Commercial Projects

Herringport Furniture, based in Gorleston, Norfolk, have built up a reputation for their handmade bespoke furniture. We are able to produce any type of furniture from fourposter beds to custom made freestanding kitchens.

Herringport workshops are such that we purchase our locally sourced timber, construct a freestanding kitchen or piece of furniture then polish or paint the piece in our own polish shops and then personally deliver the furniture to our customers.

The whole process is in house with no reliance on outside contractors.

Oakhouse Bar

When the Oakhouse bar/cafe decided to have a complete revamp the owners choose Herringport to craft the oak furniture. The Oakhouse wanted furniture to compliment the oak beams and panelling in the fabric of the building.

The solid oak pews were built based on our design but with the addition of sloping backs to allow for a more relaxed sitting position. The oblong solid oak tables were built with legs that had a 45 degree champher on the corners of the legs. This allows customers to slide on to the pews without fear of catching their legs on the edges of the table. We also provided the oak slat back chairs and oak barstools.

The furniture was polished in house, using a matt finish which is durable but without the shine as seen on a lot of oak furniture.

the-crown-inn-chiddingfoldHerringport has crafted furniture for some of the finest hotels and Inns in the country incuding the Crown Hotel at Chiddingfold.

This is a fourteenth century Inn and recently won the coveted award for being the most excellent Inn of Great Britain.

We crafted the solid oak barley twist fourposter beds which are in their premium rooms.

We also fitted out the restaurant with bespoke solid oak tables, which were polished to match the oak wall panels surrounding the stain glass windows.

The Two Bridges Hotel

The Two Bridges Hotel

The Two Bridges Hotel on Dartmoor, choose us to craft queensize, 6ft wide, oak barleytwist fourposter beds for their luxury honeymoon suites.

The beds were darker polished than normal to fit in with the decor of the rooms.

Doddington Hall

Doddington Hall

Doddington Hall Fourposter Bed
Doddington Hall, a stately home in Lincolnshire needed a fourposter bed to fit in with the classical surroundings of the hall, which was built in 1600.

We needed to design and build a bed without turned posts ie not barley twist or baluster, so we designed a tapered hexagonal post, slightly shaker style. The solid oak panels in the bed were then pegged with oak dowels.

We achieved the hall owners aim of making a fourposter which fitted in with the surroundings and looked 400 years old.
